For this mint chocolate cake I made my favourite moist chocolate cake recipe
I then added one teaspoon peppermint extract to the batter to give it the mint flavour, you may need more or less depending on the extract you use. I used this organic peppermint extract
After that, when the cakes are baking or cooling I made some chocolate buttercream. I added some peppermint extract to the chocolate buttercream to make it peppermint buttercream.
When the mint chocolate cakes cooled down I took one cake and put it on a cake plate, spread the mint chocolate buttercream on it. You can crumble some mint chocolates on top as well.
I put the second cake on top and added some buttercream. You can pipe it on or spread it with a knife. Put some chocolate pieces on top so that there is a piece of chocolate on each slice, optional
Grating some chocolate on top gives a nice finish but this is optional.
Cut and serve.
