In this video tutorial I show you two different ways to melt white chocolate. One way in the microwave and one in a double boiler. If you want to know how to melt chocolate chips, you can use this same method.
Ingredients
White chocolate or chocolate chips, broken into pieces
Method for melting white chocolate in a microwave
Put the white chocolate in a bowl suitable for a microwave and put the chocolate in the microwave for twenty seconds.
Remove and if it is not ready, put it back for twenty more seconds, you will notice that it is beginning to melt. Stir a bit and if not melted enough put it back in the microwave for twenty more seconds.
Usually the bowl should be hot enough to completely melt the chocolate. There should be a few lumps but keep stirring until completely melted.
If you need to put it in the microwave again then do so for a few more seconds and stir. It took sixty seconds to completely melt the white chocolate I used. (You may need more or less time depending on the chocolate you use.)
Method of melting white chocolate using a double boiler
Break pieces of white chocolate and put in a heatproof bowl. Bowl must be bigger than the circumference of the pot so that it does not sit in the pot.
Put some water in a pot on a medium heat and bring to a gentle simmer.
Put the bowl, with the chocolate inside on to the pot. Make sure the bowl does not come into contact with the water.
Stir the chocolate until it melts completely.
Remove from the heat and use the chocolate to drizzle over desserts, to dip fruit in or whatever else you need the chocolate for.
