English madeleines : Afternoon tea party idea

In this video tutorial I show you how to make English madeleines. They are English cakes that are great for afternoon tea.

Recipe for English madeleines (makes 7)

English madeleine moulds or English madeleine tins: https://amzn.to/3uh8jee (affiliate)

100 grams caster sugar

70 grams unsalted butter

40 ml vegetable oil

150 grams self raising flour

half teaspoon baking powder

2 large eggs (about 140 grams)

2 tablespoons milk

Do decorate the English Madeleines

a few tablespoons of jam

some dessicated coconut

Method for English madeleines

Pre-heat oven to 180 Celsius

Prepare seven madeleine moulds by brushing some softened butter and sprinkle some flour. Put them to the side.

Put the butter, oil, sugar and vanilla extract in a bowl and whisk together

Add the eggs, one at a time and whisk well between each egg added

Add the flour, milk and baking powder, mix until smooth

Divide the mixture between the cake tins

Bake in the oven for about 20-25 minute or until golden bron on top

Test with a toothpick, if it comes out clean then are ready

Leave them in the tin for about 5 minutes and then remove them from the tin and put on a cooling rack to cool completely.

Decorate the English Madeleines

Brush some jam on top and then roll them in dessicated coconut
