This apple cinnamon streusel cake is one of our family favourites, it is quite simple and quick to make and tastes and smells and tastes amazing.
Ingredients for cinnamon apple streusel cake
115 grams soft unsalted butter
500 grams apples, you can use cooking apples or your favourite eating apples
175 grams self raising flour
60 grams caster sugar
60 grams soft brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons milk
Cinnamon sugar streusel topping
120 grams self-raising flour
90 grams butter
90 grams caster sugar or soft brown sugar
half teaspoon cinnamon powder
Method for cinnamon sugar streusel cake
Pre-heat oven to 180 Celsius
Grease a 9 inch/23 cm round springform cake tin and put some greaseproof paper at the bottom.
Make the cinnamon sugar streusel topping by putting the flour, sugar and cinnamon powder in a bowl. Rub in the butter and put to the side.
Peel the apples and cut thin slices and put them to the side
Make the cake batter by creaming the butter and sugar together
Add the eggs one at a time and mix well before adding the next egg.
Now add the flour, cinnamon powder and milk and mix until smooth
Put the mixture into the cake tin and smooth over the top. Add the apples on top
Finally add the streusel topping on top, do your best to cover the apples
Bake in the hour for about an hour until slightly golden brown and firm on top
Test with a tooth pick inserted inside the cake, if it comes out clean it is ready.
Leave it to cool in the tin for about 20 minutes and the remove the cake from the tin by loosening the side.
Leave it on the base to cool completely. You can transfer to a serving plate by using a cake lifter or leave it on the base.
