Cardamom and pear tart is a nice, quick and simple dessert to make. If you do not like cardamom you can leave it out and do not have to replace with anything else.
Ingredients for cardamom and pear tart
225 puff pastry, you can use homemade puff pastry or store bought
10 cardamom pods (optional)
60 grams soft butter
60 grams caster sugar
3 medium ripe pears
Method for cardamom and pear tart
Pre-heat oven 220 Celsius
Brush the butter on the base of an 18cm/7 inch round cake tin
Add the sugar on top of butter
Remove the seeds from the cardamom pods and sprinkle them on top of the sugar
Peel and cut the pears in half and remove the seeds and then put them cored side up, in the cake tin
Roll out the puff pastry on a work surface to make it bigger that the cake tin so that you can tuck the pastry into the cake tin
You may need some flour to stop it sticking on the work surface
Put the pastry over the pears and tuck it in to seal everything in
Bake in the oven for about 25- 30 minutes until the puff pastry is well risen and golden brown on top
Remove it from the oven and leave it in the tin for about 5 minutes, do not leave it for too long because the caramelised sugar will harden and make it difficult to remove.
Get a plate and flip the tart on to it. You can serve it on its own with some ice cream or whipped cream
