This basic apple crumble recipe is simple to make. The crunchy apple crumble topping is even easier to make and the combination is great.
I show you how to make an apple crumble topping, with or without oats. You can substitute about 300 grams of the apples for blackberries to make an apple and blackberry crumble.
Apple crumble topping, I used half plain flour and half oats (but you can use all oats or all flour if you want.)
1 teaspoon cinnamon sugar
55 grams soft light brown sugar
ice-cream, or custard to serve (optional)
Make the crumble topping following the instructions on the link. I used half flour and half oats but you can use all flour if you want. Put this to one side.
Peel and chop apples into small pieces and put them into an oven-proof dish.
Pre-heat oven to 200 Celsius.
Put the sugar and cinnamon powder in the apples and mix it in together
Sprinkle the apple crumble topping on top of the apple mixture
Bake in the oven for about 40 – 45 minutes until nice and golden brown on top.
Remove from the oven and leave it to cool for a bit and serve, on its own or with some ice-cream, custard or anything else you like.
