In this video I will be showing you how to make shortcrust pastry for quiche. This shortcrust pastry recipe can also be used for savoury pies like these Cornish pasties
I like making this pastry because it is quick and simple to make and it tastes great.
Ingredients
- 400 grams plain flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 100 grams cold and diced butter
- 200 grams cold water
Method
- Put the flour and salt in a bowl
- Rub in the butter with your hands
- Add the water and mix with a wooden spoon until it is absorbed and then use your hands to make it into a ball
- If it gets too sticky you can add a bit of oil or flour on your work surface and knead until smooth
- Do not over knead the dough
