This plum galette or plum tart is quick and simple to make. Plum galette, plum pie, plum crostata or plum tart ????. All these terms can be used interchangeably.
Ingredients for plum galette
630 grams firm plums
2 tablespoons plain flour
30 grams caster sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
Method for plum galette
Make the sweet shortcrust pastry
Put some greaseproof paper on a cookie tray
Deseed the plums and then cut them into thin slices and put them in a bowl
Add the flour, sugar and cinnamon to them
Roll out the sweet shortcrust pastry and then transfer it to the prepared cookie tray
Add the plums on to the sweet shortcrust pastry leaving a border around it
Fold the border over the plums
Brush with some egg wash and sprinkle some demerara sugar on top
Bake in the oven for about 40-45 minutes until golden brown on top
Remove from the oven and let it sit on the tray for about an hour (if patient enough) Or serve hot if you like
This fruit juices thicken as they cool so you can have a clean slice.
Serve the plum galette on its own or with whipped cream, custard or ice-cream.
