The name of the cake comes from the Italian maccarone or maccherone meaning &#8220;paste&#8221;, referring to the original almond paste ingredient this word itself derives from ammaccare, meaning &#8220;to crush&#8221;. In this video I will be showing you how to make French almond macarons.<\/p>\n<p>In this recipe I am going to show you how to make some pink almond macarons with some rosewater for flavour. The main picture is of the results of my first attempt and I was impressed by the results.<\/p>\n<p><strong>French Macaron Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>75g ground almonds<\/li>\n<li>115g icing sugar<\/li>\n<li>2 large egg whites<\/li>\n<li>50g caster sugar<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon rosewater<\/li>\n<li>pinch of salt<\/li>\n<li>pink food colouring<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Filling<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pink butter icing<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon rosewater<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 25px;\">Place the ground almonds, salt and icing sugar into a bowl.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/meadowbrown-trh1.wp1.site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/IMG_7380.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-548\" src=\"https:\/\/meadowbrown-trh1.wp1.site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/IMG_7380-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"How to make French almond macarons\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/meadowbrownbakery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/IMG_7380-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/meadowbrownbakery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/IMG_7380-600x448.jpg 600w, https:\/\/meadowbrownbakery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/IMG_7380-1024x764.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Line two baking sheets with baking parchment or greaseproof paper. Using a pencil draw rounds (as a guide, when it comes to piping) and turn the grease proof papers over because if you do not turn it over you will have pencil marks on your macarons.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/meadowbrown-trh1.wp1.site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/IMG_7385.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-549\" src=\"https:\/\/meadowbrown-trh1.wp1.site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/IMG_7385-300x224.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/meadowbrownbakery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/IMG_7385-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/meadowbrownbakery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/IMG_7385-600x448.jpg 600w, https:\/\/meadowbrownbakery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/IMG_7385-1024x764.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Place the egg whites in a large bowl and whisk until soft peaks appear. Preheat the oven to 160\u00b0C\/325\u00b0F<\/p>\n<p>Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes then carefully remove the macarons from the baking paper.
