When I was creating my categories it got me thinking so I asked my sister who loves scones and she said she said she did not know and I should Google, which I did.<\/p>\n<p>It seems that some say it is a cake and some say it is a type of bread, a quick bread that uses baking powder as a raising agent instead of yeast.<\/p>\n<p>Whatever category they fall under, they are a great accompaniment for traditional afternoon tea.<\/p>\n<p>Traditional scones are baked plain and served plain with some jam and clotted cream. In this recipe I am going to show you how to make chocolate chip scones.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>420 grams plain flour<\/li>\n<li>6 teaspoons baking powder<\/li>\n<li>Pinch of salt<\/li>\n<li>55 grams butter<\/li>\n<li>40 grams caster sugar<\/li>\n<li>100 grams milk\/dark chocolate chips<\/li>\n<li>300 millilitres milk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Heat the oven to 220\u00b0C\/425\u00b0F Lightly grease a baking sheet<\/li>\n<li>Mix together the flour, baking powder and salt and rub in the butter<\/li>\n<li>Stir in the sugar and chocolate chips and then the milk to get a soft dough<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/meadowbrown-trh1.wp1.site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/IMG_7492.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-414\" src=\"https:\/\/meadowbrown-trh1.wp1.site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/IMG_7492-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"Chocolate Chip Scones\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/meadowbrownbakery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/IMG_7492-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/meadowbrownbakery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/IMG_7492-600x448.jpg 600w, https:\/\/meadowbrownbakery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/IMG_7492-1024x764.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Turn on to a floured work surface and knead very lightly.
