Sterilising your jars helps the contents stay fresh for longer. If you do not have jam jars already you can buy some <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2KjHYsM\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The method of sterilising bottles and the jars in the link above can also be used for making chutney.\u00a0 You can make some <a href=\"https:\/\/meadowbrown-trh1.wp1.site\/make-lemon-curd\/\">homemade lemon curd<\/a> and put in sterilised jars too.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What you will need<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>jam jars<\/li>\n<li>warm water<\/li>\n<li>washing soap<\/li>\n<li>sponge<\/li>\n<li>a baking tray with a cooling rack on it. If you do not have this you can put the jars directly on the oven shelves.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pre-heat oven to between 160 -180 Celsius.\u00a0 I use 175 Celsius.<\/li>\n<li>Put some washing soap in warm water and wash the jam jars and jam lids<\/li>\n<li>Rinse them out in some clean warm water and put them upside down on the baking tray with a cooling rack on it.<\/li>\n<li>Put the tray in the oven and leave it in the oven for 15 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Remove from the oven.<\/li>\n<li>You can now fill the jars, while hot, and close immediately with the lid.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In this video tutorial I show you how to sterilise jam jars and lids.
