I made a 3 layer very fluffy and moist delicious cake to show you how to colour cake batter. This is a simple step by step video tutorial showing how to make multi colored cake batter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ingredients to bake and colour cake batter<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

5 large eggs (???? 420gs)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

300 grams butter <\/p>\n\n\n\n

100 ml oil<\/p>\n\n\n\n

360 grams sugar<\/p>\n\n\n\n

420 grams self-raising flour<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1 teaspoon baking powder<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2 teaspoons vanilla extract<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2 tablespoons plain yoghurt (optional)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2 or 3 gel colours of your choice. You can buy some here Sugarflair gel colours : https:\/\/amzn.to\/3sR7Aic<\/a> If you want different colours you can search in Youtube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To decorate the cake<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Small batch Swiss meringue buttercream<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Glace or water icing for the top : Watch how to feather icing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Method to bake and colour cake batter<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Pre-heat oven to 150 Celsius<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grease and line the bottom of three 8 inch round cake tins. You can buy cake tins here <\/a> If you do not have 3 cake tins you can bake in batches. Butter and flour the sides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Put the butter, sugar, oil and vanilla extract in a bowl and whisk together until creamy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Add the eggs one at a time and whisk<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Add the flour, baking powder and yoghurt (if using) and mix until smooth<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Put a third of the cake batter into a cake tin (if you are not colouring it)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Put another third of the batter into a separate bowl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Colour the two batters with the food colouring gels<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Put the coloured cake batter into the prepared cake tins<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Level the batter and bake in the oven for about 35-40 mins until well risen and golden brown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the cakes are baking make the small batch of Swiss meringue buttercream.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Test the cakes with a toothpick, if it comes out clean they are ready, if not put them back in the oven for a few mins until ready.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remove them from the oven and leave them in the tins for about 10 minutes. Then flip onto a cooling rack, peel of the paper and leave to cool completely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now time to assemble the cakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Put one cake layer on a cake plate, put buttercream on top add the second layer and put buttercream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally add the last layer and decorate with the glace icing and feather it<\/p>\n\n\n\n
