Steamed puddings are a delicious dessert to make, in this video I show you how to make a steamed pudding in the oven. This is a great alternative if you do not like to use the stove top or a steamer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The oven you use can be a steam or non steam oven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ingredients for oven steamed pudding<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

2 large eggs (140 grams)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

180 grams self raising flour<\/p>\n\n\n\n

130 grams sugar<\/p>\n\n\n\n

100 g butter<\/p>\n\n\n\n

40 ml oil<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3 tbsp jam, you may add more if you like<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Method for oven steamed pudding<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Pre-heat oven to 175 Celsius<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Put the jam in a 1 litre oven safe pudding basin, I used a pyrex glass bowl<\/a> then put it to the side<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Put the butter, oil and sugar in a bowl, whisk together until creamy<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Add the eggs one at a time and whisk well between each egg added<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Add in the flour and fold it in until smooth, if too thick loosen the mixture with about a tablespoon or two of milk<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spoon the cake mixture into the bowl with the jam, level the top<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bake in the oven for about 45-50mins until slightly golden brown on top and springy to the touch. Test with a toothpick inserted into the cake, if it comes out clean it is ready.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wait for about 10 minutes and carefully flip it onto a plate, with oven gloves and serve. It will still be very hot<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Great on its own or with custard or ice cream<\/p>\n\n\n\n
