I made a peach galette but you can use most fruit used in a pie made in a pie dish including blueberries and apples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients for the peach galette<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/meadowbrown-trh1.wp1.site\/make-sweet-shortcrust-pastry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sweet shortcrust pastry<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>500 grams peaches cut into thin slices<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2 tablespoons soft brown sugar<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1 tablespoon plain flour or cornflour<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Egg wash for brushing on top of the pastry before it goes in the oven<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Demerara sugar (optional)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To decorate the peach galette<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Icing sugar (optional)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Method for the peach galette<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Start of by making the sweet shortcrust pastry by watching the video I made <a href=\"https:\/\/meadowbrown-trh1.wp1.site\/make-sweet-shortcrust-pastry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>  Put it in the fridge while you make the filling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Put the peach slices in a bowl and add the sugar and flour and mix<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prepare a cooking tray by putting baking parchment on it<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pre-heat oven to 180 Celsius<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Get the pastry out of the fridge and roll it out<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Transfer the pastry on to your baking tray by rolling it onto a rolling pin and then rolling it out onto the tray<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arrange your fruit pieces on to the centre of your pastry and leave a border around it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fold the pastry border over the fruit<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make your egg wash by mixing one egg with a tablespoon of milk<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brush the egg wash on top of the pastry <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sprinkle some demerara sugar on top of the pastry (optional)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bake in the oven for about 40-45 minutes until golden brown on top<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remove from the oven and let it sit on the tray for about an hour (if patient enough) Or serve hot if you like<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This fruit juices thicken as they cool so you can have a clean slice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Serve the peach galette on its own or with whipped cream, custard or ice-cream.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A galette is basically a pie made without a pie dish.
