This is a very thin pastry used to make apple strudel, samosas or baklava. I love making pastries and always love to challenge myself.  I make pastries for fun and you can have fun making pastry too with this simple to follow video tutorial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients for filo pastry<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>225 strong white flour<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1 quarter teaspoon salt<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1 teaspoon sugar (leave out if making savoury recipe)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1 egg<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>30 ml vegetable oil<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>75 ml warm water<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1 quarter teaspoon lemon juice<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Method : How to make filo pastry<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Put the flour, salt and sugar in a bowl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour the oil into a bowl, add in the the egg and lemon juice and whisk together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make a well in the flour mixture and pour in the egg mixture, then pour in the water<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mix together with a fork and when it is too thick to mix with a fork use your hands and knead it in the bowl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remove from the bowl and then put on a lightly oiled surface and knead and stretch and fold until it is smooth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Put the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2WRCSsA\">cotton cloth<\/a>, you can buy one on amazon (affliate) on the table and put your dough on it and cover with a warm bowl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leave this to rest for 30 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remove the bowl and put some flour on the cloth<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stretch the dough on the cloth into a rectangle shape, with your hands<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When it is about 15cm by 10cm you can use a rolling pin to help you along.  Roll it as much as you can and then put rolling pin to one side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use your hands for the rest of the time to gently stretch the dough until it is about 70 cm by 40 cm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You should be able to see your hand under the pastry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending what you need it for leave it to rest for 15 mins and hard so that it easier to work with without ripping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can checkout this <a href=\"https:\/\/meadowbrown-trh1.wp1.site\/homemade-povitica-recipe\/\">povitica recipe<\/a> it is made in a similar way.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In this video I am going to show you how to make phyllo or filo pastry from scratch.
