Make steak pies with puff pastry top and bottom

In this video tutorial I show you how to make steak pies with puff pastry top and bottom. Some pie recipes show you how to make pies in a pie dish with a pastry lid but this one is of a recipe where the filling is inside the pastry and they are a great way to make individual pies.

I used steak and onions for this pie filling but you can use ground beef, chicken vegetables or any other filling of your choice. I made the puff pastry I used for the pies and you can watch the video tutorial how to make puff pastry at home step by step

Ingredients

pie filling

puff pastry

Method

Make your puff pastry and then cut a piece off and roll it out into a rectangle.

Preheat your oven to 200 Celsius

Put some filling on to one half of the pastry and leave a border round the puff pastry for when you seal the filling in.

Fold the other half of the pastry over the filling and cut off any excess pastry and then use a fork, or your hands, to seal the pastry.

You can wet the pastry on the edges with a bit of water if the pastry will not stick properly and go around with fork to seal completely.

Brush the top with some milk or leave as it is and bake in the oven for about 20-30 minutes or until golden brown on top.

Remove from the oven and leave to cool slightly before serving
