How to make shortcrust pastry for quiche

In this video I will be showing you how to make shortcrust pastry for quiche. This shortcrust pastry can also be used for savoury pies like these Cornish pasties

I like making this pastry because it is quick and simple to make and it tastes great.

Ingredients

  • 400 grams plain flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 100 grams cold and diced butter
  • 200 grams cold water

Method

  • Put the flour and salt in a bowl
  • Rub in the butter with your hands
  • Add the water and mix with a wooden spoon until it is absorbed and then use your hands to make it into a ball
  • If it gets too sticky you can add a bit of oil or flour on your work surface and knead until smooth
  • Do not over knead the dough
